This and That Thursday

Is it Thursday already? How can that be?

LIFE
1. I may be MIA from blogland next week. Three of my friends from high school and I are going to Florida for a girly getaway. We've never done anything like this before. I know it will be a blast! I will miss my kiddos though. It's hard to tear me away from them. But sun and fun with my girlies is going to be crazy fun! I'm debating whether or not to bring my computer though...

2. I am LOVING my mornings in the kindergarten class. It is so great to be back in the classroom and making a difference. The children are filled with such joy, I smile all morning long.

WRITING

My arm has been twisted, and I will be doing Nano for the first time this year. I'm slightly scared but mostly pumped, because I know our book's first draft will be finished by the end of November. Who's with me?!

BLOGGING

This week at Book Recs of the Rock & Famous I have a True Blood hunk and a fantastic, thorough interview about books with the Goo Goo dolls drummer, Mike Malinin. It's so interesting to see what actors and musicians read. It gives a different insight into their personalities. Check my new blog out HERE!

Thank you to Cori Jackson for the Amazon gift card I won on her blog! I promptly bought Possession by Elana Johnson and Forever by Maggie Stiefvator. My mom has already abducted Forever to read, and I will be reading Elana's book on the beach next week. If I can wait til then...

Have a fabulous weekend!

Enjoy your trip to Florida! No hurricanes. And don't let NaNo scare you. I did it last year, and if I can survive and hit the goal, anybody can do it!

Have fun on your girly trip. It sounds like a blast!

(And I am torn about the computer issue as well....leaning towards no computer.)

I might do Nano with you...depending on edits!

Oy, I'd love to be going on a girlie trip! Have a wonderful time. Like Shelley, I'm thinking no computer. Take advantage of the away time.

Kelly, I am a fellow campaigner who is also planning to produce a NaNo novel soon. Good luck. I hear that it's well worth the experience.

I've got kind of a girlie getaway planned for October. Going for a Yosemite hiking trip with a girlfriend--just one.

Hope yours is great. Look forward to the pictures.

Have a great time with your friends, don't bring your computer, and good luck with Nano! I'm debating whether or not to do it... I always want to, but November ends up being such a crazy month (well... aren't they all!) that I've never managed to reach my Nano goal. But maybe this year... :)

No one ever invites me on a girlie weekend, I feel left out.

How fun!

Have a good time on your girlie weekend and I've read both of those books and they're both GREAT! :P

LOL @ Tony's comment.

Have fun in Florida and leave the computer home!

Don't bring your computer. You'll have way more fun without it.

Have tons of fun on your trip! NaNo is awesome, I'm going to figure out something in order to join in on the fun!!

Thanks, Alex. And yes, I've been on hurricane watch hoping nothing is coming our way!
Shelley - Yes, I'm torn. But probably leaning toward no computer, too.
Steph - Join with me! :)
Mel - True. I should just play.
Gary - Thank you for coming by and good luck to you in Nano!!
LTM - Thanks! I'm wondering if it will be a restful trip or I'll need to rest when I come back!

Lee- That is something to look forward to! Have fun!
Susanna- I think it's a crazy month too. But then again, I may as well make it crazier.
Poor Tony!! :)
Kristi- I'm looking forward to both so much!
Carol - I will certainly document the good times! Thanks!
Charlie and Matthew - I think you all have convinced me to leave it at home!
Heather - I'm glad you are describing Nano as "fun." And please join us!

Good luck with NANO. I'm so tempted for the first time ever this year too. We will see....

Nano IS some scary shit, but I promise we'll make it through to the end. Let's make us proud!

Enjoy Florida!

Kelly Polark said...

Carla- Thanks so much for the award!
Natalie - I really want to wait til I'm on vacation to read them, but it's hard not to crack Possession open and start! But I've got to much to do to get immersed in a book this week.
Jackee- Thank you! And I'm hoping Nano will help me finish a first draft!
Jon - We can do it!

Tony's comment was the funny. :D

I can't believe you've never treated yourself to a girl's weekend before! You are going to have a blast. :) NO to the computer. (if you have a smart phone you can keep in touch enough)

Glad you're loving your new job, girly. I'm positive they're loving you even more.

WHO twisted your arm to do Nano?? Who would be so pushy and-- oh, never mind. ;) It's an experience you MUST try at least once, yanno, like the girlfriend's weekend (but co-ed and several weeks longer, and way less personal hygiene (during nano, there's less time/need for grooming and polishing one's hair. Embrace the vile and heinous scrunchie.)
Anywhoodles, we are going to have a blast doing Nano. I'll email you and Jon all my Nano tips when we get closer.

Have a fab weekend and an even more fab getaway!
Huggles,
Lola
